Santander — how to download bank statements in Norma 43, PDF and Excel formats

Why is the bank statement needed?

For the automatic import of bank transactions into the accounting system, we prefer to receive the statement in Norma 43 format. This format helps avoid manual data entry and reduces the risk of errors.

A standard PDF statement is suitable for reviewing account movements, while Excel is useful for manual checks and filtering operations.

1. How to download a statement in Norma 43 format

Step 1 — Log in to Santander Online Banking

After logging into online banking, you will be taken to the main page.

Step 2 — Open the Remesas section

In the top menu, go to: Remesas

Step 3 — Find the Petición N43 section

Scroll down to the block: Otros ficheros

Click on: Petición N43

Step 4 — Select the “en línea” mode

On the “Planificación de cuadernos Norma 43” page, click on:
en línea

This allows you to generate the file online immediately.

Step 5 — Select the period and the account

On the request page:

— specify the dates:
• Fecha desde
• Fecha hasta

— select the required bank account by ticking the checkbox

After that, click: ACEPTAR 

Step 6 — Confirm the request

Check:
— the account number
— the statement period

After verifying the information, click: CONFIRMAR

The statement is ready.

Important

The Norma 43 file is usually downloaded in the following formats:
— .txt
— .n43
— .q43

Do not open or edit the file before sending it to the accounting department.

2. How to download a regular PDF or XLS statement

Step 1 — Open the accounts section

On the main page, click: Cuentas y créditos

Step 2 — Select the required account

Find the account and click the: “…”  button on the right side of the account.

Step 3 — Go to the account movements

Select: Detalle y movimientos

Step 4 — Download the PDF or XLS (Excel)

On the movements page, export icons are located at the top.

Click on:
PDF or XLS (Excel)

After that, the statement will be downloaded to your computer.

The file will be downloaded in the selected format.

— N43 — Norma 43
— PDF — regular statement
— XLS — Excel
— TXT — text file

Common errors

I cannot see “Petición N43”

Usually, this section is only available in the full web version of the bank on a computer.
